Diafiltration

is a membrane separation process in which the solvent and part of the ingredients of a solution or a suspension are exchanged. Thereby, the product is held back. For diafiltration, crossflow filtration systems are used. The membrane is selected according the molecule-size of the substance to be exchanged in the process.
